Prof. Peter A. Bruck

WSA Chairman

Prof Peter A. Bruck studied law, economics, sociology and communications at the universities of Vienna, Iowa and McGill. He holds doctorates in law and communications and has taught at universities in Canada, the US and Western Europe plus Israel and Poland.

He has more than 25 years experience in research, university teaching and information technologies in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Portugal, the US and Canada. Mr. Bruck received numerous awards and fellowships in Europe, the US and Canada and is listed in the Canadian and Austrian Who's Who. He founded, built and headed research institutes at three universities, and he is a senior partner of the ICRA (International Communications Research Associates) in Ottawa, Canada.

Amjad Umar (PhD)

Harrisburg University,(Chief Architect, NGE Solutions Inc.)

Dr. Amjad Umar is Chief Architect of the United Nations GAID (Global Alliance for ICT Development) eNabler Project and Director and Professor of eBusiness and eGovernment at the Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Systems and Telecom Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, Founder/CEO of NGE Solutions (a startup specializing in next generation enterprises -- NGEs), and a Fulbright Senior Specialist on ICT.

His 25+ years of experience includes senior management, consulting and faculty assignments with global telecom organizations (e.g., Bellcore), Frost and Sullivan (England), Toyota Corp., Society of Manufacturing Engineers, manufacturing organizations (e..g., Ford Motors), US Department of Navy, US Army Research Labs, educational institutions (e.g., University of Michigan, Rutgers University, Peking University), and consulting organizations in England, Singapore, China, Italy, and Canada. He is the author of more than 60 research papers and has written six books.

He has an M.S. in Computer and Communication Engineering and a Ph.D. in Information Systems Engineering (Industrial and Systems Engineering Department), both from the University of Michigan.

Director at Biro Oktroi Roosseno Singapore Pte Ltd, the Singapore office of one of the oldest and largest Intellectual Property firms in Indonesia. Non-executive Director at Petronasia Energy Pte Ltd Singapore.

Strategic and innovation related consultancy for clients including DBS Bank Singapore, Deutsche Bank, Mercedes Benz, Daimler Chrysler, BMW, Audi, Deutsche Telekom, Sony, Siemens, IKEA, SMRT Singapore, the High Commission of the Republic of Rwanda in Singapore, American Chamber of Commerce Singapore, among others.

PhD from the Sorbonne Paris on the exchange of values and conversion of capital in innovative business models (with highest honours), B.A. Philosophy (Logics and Artificial Intelligence), B.A. in Literature and Cultural Anthropology from Freie Universitaet Berlin and Master on Experimental Media Design from the Berlin University of the Arts (excellent - outstanding achievement). Conception and production of award-winning interdisciplinary media projects displayed at international exhibitions and conferences for over 20 years. Collaborations include Harvard Berkman Center Law Lab, MIT Media Lab, Fraunhofer Gesellschaft Germany and Ars Electronica among others. Lecturing at the National University of Singapore (NUS) University Scholars Program (USP) for 12 years on entrepreneurship, innovation-management, negotiation, leadership, and interactive media. Published research in the fields of Ambient Intelligence, Online Negotiation, Deal-Design and Contract Simplification, Decision-Support, LegalTech, Multi-Sided Business Platforms, Visual Knowledge Representation and the Future of Work. Jury member for the 2018 and 2019 United Nations World Summit Award Germany on "Digital Innovation". Co-founder of the communication agency of the Berlin Think Tank Berlin Polis; founder of Odo Fine Art and Senior Ventures.

Paul MacDonnell

ED, Global Digital Foundation

Prior to joining the Global Digital Foundation, Paul was Head of European policy at the Center for Data Innovation in Brussels. Prior to that he spent 12 years at Insurance Ireland, the insurance industry trade association, in Dublin and Brussels and managed the industry's response to policy, legislative and regulatory development.

Paul began his career with Hill & Knowlton’s government affairs division in London where he provided advice to a number of Fortune 500 companies. In 2001 he co-founded an economic policy forum in Dublin, Open Republic, which, as well as hosting events aimed at policy-makers and politicians on such issues as pensions, taxation and the EU, was the Irish publisher of the Economic Freedom of the World Report.

Paul has extensive broadcast and print media experience, and he holds a degree in Medieval English literature and philosophy from Trinity College Dublin and an MBA from University College Dublin.
